—-I learned something! This is a film about a brigade that travels lightly! They don’t carry a lot of stuff with them. Imagine my surprise! I thought it was about a brigade that only comes out in the daytime. Boy was I wrong! I haven’t been this embarrassed since I assumed “Race to Witch Mountain” was a movie about people who couldn’t figure out which mountain they were racing to.
——-Charge of the Light Brigade is about the battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War but it wasn’t interesting enough so they wrote in a love triangle with two brothers competing for the same wishy-washy woman. This is the second film I’ve seen lately where that happens. Apparently if some unique part of history is too boring to make into a film, simply add some schlock that everyone has seen a million times before and THAT spices it up!
——-Unfortunately, this film is grossly inaccurate to boot. The film makers make it appear as if the mix up in orders was an intentional superseding of command that leads to a premature victory. In reality the mix-up in orders was a ridiculous blunder which led to the light brigade suffering tremendous casualties and the attack ultimately failed to sway the war toward the favor of either side. This film and that battle were completely pointless.
