Who is this Professor Popinjay person anyhow?

When someone asks “Who are you” we might reply with our name or whatever organization we happen to be representing at the time. A clever person reading this probably knows these answers about me just by getting this far into this web page. Obviously I am a blogger. My name is Professor Popinjay. I do not represent the lollipop guild and I do not speak for the trees… for the moment. What I do is answer questions to the delight of those who would inquire. You might instantly be thinking “Kee-RIPES, MAN! Not another disdainful arrogant know-it-all!” Let me assure you: While I may feign disdain and arrogance for the sake of humor, I am all too thrilled to forsake any amount of facts or prestige for the sake of meriting a hardy guffaw.

But who is Professor Popinjay beyond a name and a silly pastime? Well, I’m not really a professor per se though I have taught some actual classes. I enjoy writing and art and frequently employ humor into both of these endeavors but not always. I work in my family’s pizza parlor which was first established in 1956. I have five children and I am married to fellow blogger The Compass Rose Queen. If you’re curious: No, blogging is not how we met.

I have been writing humor since high school (Class of 2000) and have been published regularly in a couple of local newspapers while they lasted. Was I the cause of these publications’ downfall? Extensive counseling sessions have enabled me to believe otherwise. I have also had a blurb printed on the back of a humor book by Mifflin Lowe, right between blurbs by Erma Bombeck and a writer from the show “Family Guy”. So you see, I’m practically a Pulitzer Prize winning humor columnist sans Pulitzer Prize.

In real life I believe life is too important to be taken seriously and we should all relax and love each other and take time to laugh in spite of the world being a dumpster fire. Every little thing is gonna be alright.

Please enjoy my blog and should you develop a question and wish to submit it to my novel treatment, don’t hesitate. I can’t promise it will be answered in a timely manner but I will definetly add it to the ever growing list from which I draw inspiration.
