Batman Unlimited Trilogy

——Starting with “Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts” followed by “Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem” and wrapped up with “Batman Unlimited: Mechs vs. Mutants”, these are an animated trilogy marketed to (I am assuming) kids grades K-6th? To be honest the suspended disbelief required to swallow the happenings in these films would probably be beyond the abilities of most 6th graders, mature individuals as they are. That’s what makes these films great.

——I have no complaints. Does that mean I possess a mentality akin to kids grades K-5th? Probably. And I’m okay with that. These films have robotic animals, classic monsters, and giant mech suits fighting Godzilla sized versions of Batman villains. Yes, please!

——The term “Unlimited” associated with the titles seems to imply it’s its own canon so don’t get too persnickety. Despite some CA-RAZY stuff that happens, the films all effectively balance taking themselves seriously, while at the same time maintaining the necessary NON-meta sense of humor based on the context of the show and not just tacked on for cheap giggles. It’s such a pain I have to spell all that out in these times but we have the Velma show so I better be specific.

——Don’t get me wrong though. This may not be Batman for infants (Looking at you Brave and the Bold) but it has certainly nothing to do with a dark brooding Robert Pattinson either. It’s more like what if Batman was an ultra cool anime. Bring on the giant mech suits!

——By the third installment more justice friends join the team which is fun but it remains bat-focused which I appreciate. In other iterations when other super heroes start showing up things get muddled. Not so here.

——-The art style is cool. The music is effective. The voice acting is top notch. The story is crazy but not bad. It’s just fun. Don’t skip this because it’s for kids.
