A non-review by Prof. Popinjay
—–Not sure what I think about this. Just like Zootopia, this film was heavy and not for kids. The subject matter was more of the same. The ol’ “The World Doesn’t Want Super-Heroes” bit. It’s a strange concept to expect an audience to relate to who is shelling out millions of dollars to go see superhero films. The concept is portrayed somewhat intelligently in the X-men where the “heros” are barley interacting with normal people (or “Normies” as I call them) but it’s wheighty commentary for a supposed kids’ film. And that’s just what it was too: commentary. Hardly any of these ideas were portrayed with action or events. It was almost completely dialogue. My kids were so bored they resorted to playing dodgeball inside their blanket fort. Personally I liked the film despite it being really, REALLY predictable. Also, the title was a little misleading. It really should not have been called The Incredibles 2. That would imply the other members of the family were important. This film should have been called How Mrs. Incredible Got Her Groove Back or Here’s To You Mrs. Incredible or El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Señora Increíble. A solo film for one character or another is fine but don’t jerk me around.
