A Non-Review by Prof. Popinjay

——I don’t intentionally watch films I won’t like just to write a negative review of them. I might have liked this one! It was entirely possible! I just didn’t. Pure drama from start to finish. Everybody mad at everybody else. The only comic relief was dude’s freeloading brother. He was always getting drunk and getting in fights. I think the other guy was supposed to be funny too but he was just racist. Or maybe he was supposed to be a jerk. I can’t tell with old movies sometimes. Marylin Monroe was in it. She wasn’t even a main character. Fourth billing before the credits though. Honestly, in retrospect she was probably the most forward thinking character in this film. Some stud slapped the crap out of her for that kind of talk if I remember correctly. I think that was the theme of this whole movie really: Don’t get any wild ideas or someone will slap the crap out of you. What a depressing film. Can’t imagine why they make stuff like this. I’d rather watch 1997 “Batman and Robin”. Although, “Clash by Night” did have a lot of great stock footage of the fish canning industry and seeing Marylin Monroe proficiently gut fish was amusing so yeah, it was still more entertaining than 1997 “Batman and Robin”

I suppose. I’ll say this, the movie had a good ending eventually but man, what a bunch of ninnies these characters were!
