A Nom-Review by Prof. Popinjay

My modern sensibilities see these old posters and my initial thought is words. A lot of words. I stare at the poster and I see the words and they do not enter my mind. I think they’re names? Then there’s a picture of Bob Hope or someone. Sometimes their heads are really big but they have tiny bodies. He’s in a dress this time. There’s a tiny woman next to him. That makes me want to see this movie I guess. Doesn’t it for you also? No? Compare this to the poster for Star Wars. Marketing has come a long way. There’s times I like the movie trailer better than the movie. Anyway, no point really. Just observing.

This film was fine. Classic Bob Hope. The camera could have cut away a lot sooner than it had sometimes. We spend a lot of time watching Hope preen himself with little payoff. Aside from that it was a cute story about a con man trying to pay back Jaba the hut while he inadvertently helps some old homeless ladies. Good stuff.

PS- That’s Tor Johnson up there on the upper right of the poster. You may remember him from the infamous Ed Wood film Plan 9 from Outer Space and many other B rate horror films from the 50’s.
