A Non-review by Prof. Popinjay

It was hard to pay attention to this movie with Facebook shouting at me about all the BS Jered Leto puts people through during production. He seems really hard to work with and kind of arrogant. That’s unfortunate for the people who have to work with him and they have my sincere empathy. But this isn’t Professor Popinjay’s Non-Review of Actors Behavior on set. I enjoy writing about movies, not gossiping about actors.

So I shall commence my Non-review of this MOVIE, regardless of Jared Leto’s bizarre behavior. You’re welcome.

Frequently I avoid going into the exact synopsis of the film but I think I’ll start doing so as briefly as possible. Here you go:

While trying to cure his rare blood disorder Michael Morbius accidently turns himself into something very similar to a vampire. Hilarity ensues. Okay, not hilarity. More like super hero action. But you get the idea. Normally Morbius is a Spider-Man villain but Disney tosses Sony a bone in the form of semi-popular side characters or characters too horrific to be a Disney Princess such as Venom. Although, now that I think of it, I’d pay top dollar to see Venom as a Disney princess.

Please make this movie!

I thought it was fine. Nothing stood out as spectacular. I’m sure more particular people might find some absurdities here and there. It’s not a perfect movie by any means. I found it interesting most of the time at the very least.

Michael Morbius’ line “I’m Venom!” really didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Obviously a cheap way to connect the Morbius film to the Venom film but that could have been done a lot better. I suppose the line could make sense from the point of view of Morbius who hadn’t really established himself in the public eye (and why would he want or need to) so saying he’s someone scary that the baddies might already know about and fear could work to his advantage. You know what? I’m okay with this line.

The Doctor Who actor I had difficulty seeing him as anything but Doctor Who which is strange because I don’t even watch Doctor Who.

The after credits scene, which I shan’t spoil for you despite the fact that it’s tacked on at the last minute and lacks any real substance, seems like it was tacked on at the last minute and lacks any real substance.
