A Non-Review by Professor Popinjay
I’m gonna level with you. I remember very little of this film. I had to take a refresher course. I know Bob Hope is a tailor and he keeps biting people’s lapels and cuffs apparently to tie up some loose thread after which he smiles and says “no charge”.
COMEDY!
After the inexperienced Hope kisses a woman for the first time, he says “It’s just as I suspected! Dames are softer than fellas.” Great line.
Vincent Price makes an appearance as the real Casanova. Really? He’s Casanova? What do you think ladies? Vincent Price? Hot or nah?

My ex used to quote this movie all the time. There were some ambiguously foreign characters whose phraseology was confined to the phrase “Farfel farfel fiffick.” Not sure what this meant but my ex would say it and laugh hysterically. Honestly, were it not for her I might never have sat down and actually watched a Bob Hope film and I’d be somewhere else right now enjoying my life without him… I mean Bob Hope.
This film had two endings for you to choose from. Hope polls the audience (breaking the fourth wall) and asks which ending they prefer. Hope is visibly disappointed with the audience’s selection. I found this rather creative. Makes me wonder what other films there are with multiple endings to choose from. Of course Clue and Wayne’s World come to mind. Plenty of films have alternate endings. The alternate ending to the Rick Moranis Little Shop of Horrors is amazing and preferred by me anyway; if only to hear Levi Stubbs laugh maniacally for just a little longer. Really I think all movies should have the option of unleashing man-eating plant monsters into the ending. There should be a designated button on the remote.
