Most Wanted

A Non-Review by Professor Popinjay

This is one of my early posts I happened to stumble upon while searching for something else. Bear with my rudimentary meanderings as they are even more unfocused than usual. I couldn’t let this slip through the cracks though. Enjoy.)

I grabbed this vhs box art becuase it made me laugh. Tom Selleck was definitely in this movie but it was not a starring role at all. More of a supporting character. Robert Stack was the Star. This was the pilot for the TV show Most Wanted starring Robert Stack and after the pilot Tom Selleck wasn’t in the actual show at all. Appearantly someone in Sweden thought Tom would sell vhs tapes better than Stack. I’d always been curious to see Stack in something other than the Beavis and Butthead Movie. He was good!
This is the pilot to a gritty crime drama. Haven’t seen the show. Not really into crime… or drama… or grit. I hate grit. It’s coarse, and rough, and irritating; and it gets everywhere!
It wasn’t a bad distraction though. My favorite part was the soundtrack. This was filmed in 1976 so lots of funky flutes and waka-chika-waka-chika. I could almost hear Dennis Edwards from the Temptations singing Papa Was A Rolling Stone to this music. It was one step away from the Shaft theme. Wouldn’t mind this stuff playing wherever I went. I’d grow a thick mustache and wear huge tinted glasses, and an extremely wide brown-striped tie with a short sleeved button-up shirt. Ahhhhhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaaaah!
